Wow! Did you know that the painting technique called pouring started way back in the 1930s? And we thought it was all so new, right? Mexican muralist painter, David Alfaro Siqueiros called it his "accidental painting" technique. Here's a video by an art historian and physicist about Siqueiros' technique. If you don't know about Siqueros, check him out online...an interesting political activist and great painter!

Not all of us are artists. But all of us can paint, sculpt, draw, sketch, and do some forms of an artsy thing, on varying levels. Some of us are just naturally more gifted than others, but it doesn’t matter. If you enjoy it, do it.

The first communication tool man used was drawing and painting, the ancient cave drawings give us such a great insight into mans innate need for expression, creativity and communication. It’s a natural process and the starting point for transferring ideas, thoughts or feelings into action, through those drawings and paintings.

The interesting process of developing a painting is always exciting to me. As the vision starts to materialize, inspiration comes and the picture unfolds. The under painting is always important to me as it gives me something to work with and leads me to the next step.

Painting from a Photos is what a lot of artists do, they love a scene they've taken a picture of in the landscape or want to copy something they really like, it's one way of creating a painting.. When I'm teaching I usually try and encourage students to put their own spin on it and make it their own.
