Every piece of art portrays a feeling, an expression of creativity. A dot to line to a shape, each moment they’re made is a creation, I love that!
MY PROCESS
HOW I WORK
i get a surge of energy and excitement when I come into my studio, something new will evolve by the time I leave and I’ll take a bit of time to breath, relax and focus . Play drawing and painting is part of my warming up process whether I’m working on a series or not it’s always a great way to let go and get in the flow
I DO THIS ON THE CANVAS BEFORE I START PAINTING THE LAYERS OF COLOUR AND THEN I FIND THE DIRECTION PRESENTS ITSELF. I LET THE PAINTING COME TO ME AND ALLOW IT TO EVOLVE BEFORE I STEP BACK TO ASSESS.
I CAN THEN LOOK AT THE DESIGN AND VALUES AND MAKE AJUSTMENTS IF I NEED TO. I THEN LEAVE IT FOR A WHILE TO RETURN WITH FRESH EYES AND RE EVALUATE, IT’S IMPORTANT TO LET THE PAINTING EVOLVE NATURALLY AND NOT FORCE IT. (You can also find me on BookRetreats.com. )
I CAN REPEAT THIS PROCESS MANY TIMES WITH MANY LAYERS UNTIL I GET TO THE FEELING AND EMOTION I WANT TO EXPRESS, I HAVE TO FEEL THAT CONNECTION AND THEN I KNOW IT’S FINISHED.

Allowing emotions to express themselves in colour. The lockdown time in the pandemic created new emotions in all of us and gave me time to create some powerful expressive paintings!
